Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how the browser extension "Face Recognition Manager" ("the Extension") handles information. The same terms apply to shared-PC administrators and users, whether or not paid backup is used. Even if you do not use paid backup, please understand how data is handled if that option is enabled.
- Nature of the Extension
The Extension is not face authentication (identity verification or access control). It matches face feature vectors from the camera to estimate and log shared-PC users as a free productivity tool. Matches are probabilistic estimates, not definitive authentication. The Extension is provided as-is, with no warranty of operation, accuracy, or availability. - Camera and Images
A camera is used for matching, but face images and video are never stored. Only face feature vectors are obtained from the camera feed and used for matching and logging. - Data Kept Inside the Extension
Main information kept inside the Extension includes:
・Face feature vectors (kept only in the Extension's local storage. Even when cloud features including paid backup are enabled, face feature vectors are not sent or backed up externally and remain only on the Extension locally)
・Identifier label names (stored encrypted inside the Extension. Do not enter personal information such as real names or employee IDs)
・Usage history, settings, audit logs, etc.
Without paid backup, this data is generally kept only in the browser storage on your device. - Paid Backup Option
An optional paid feature provides the following:
・Usage history and label names: backed up to your own Google Drive. Face feature vectors are not included in the backup. Label names are stored encrypted by default. Encryption keys needed to decrypt label names are not stored on Google Drive; when paid backup is enabled, they are stored per device on the backup service provider's (web service) servers. Because of this separation, even if Google Drive backup data alone is leaked, label names cannot be decrypted, so that data alone does not normally function as information that can identify a specific individual. If an administrator enables decrypted label export, decrypted label names may be stored on Google Drive. If personal information is used in identifiers, it may be treated as personal information. Managing, sharing, deleting, and retention of Google Drive data is the responsibility of the shared-PC administrator who configured backup.
・Record reliability logs, device IDs, and (when paid backup is enabled) label-decryption encryption keys: stored on the backup service provider's servers rather than Google Drive, because they may be overwritten or lost on the device due to interference, and/or are needed to decrypt labels.
Transfer of backup data such as usage history and label names is performed by the Extension or the user's browser (client-side) connecting directly to Google's services (Google Drive). The service provider neither stores this backup payload nor relays the communication.
There is no fee for the Extension itself. Charges relate to maintaining the web backup service; see the web service terms and privacy policy for details. - Record Reliability Logs
A simple feature can record actions that may interfere with the Extension (e.g., installing other extensions, changing camera devices) as record reliability logs. This is not an anti-fraud system. Because this is a browser extension, complete prevention is not possible. When paid backup is enabled, those logs, device IDs, and (when enabled) label-decryption encryption keys may be sent to and stored on the backup service provider's servers. - Administrator and User Responsibilities
Do not use personal information in identifiers. If you do, handling that information is the administrator's responsibility (especially if decrypted labels are exported to Google Drive). Handling of data backed up to Google Drive (access, retention, deletion, legal compliance) is the administrator's responsibility. Shared-PC users should understand that an administrator operates the Extension and, when enabled, backup on that device. - Retention and Legal Compliance
Local data retention can be changed in settings. If laws in your country or region prohibit or limit long-term log retention, adjust settings accordingly. - Changes
This policy may change without prior notice. Important changes will be announced in the Extension settings or similar.
